SAN FRANCISCO – October 10, 2014 – NAI Northern California announced the sale of a mixed use retail/office property in the highlly coveted mid-Market corridor. The Market Street location boasts neighbors including Twitter, Uber, Dolby Systems, Zendesk, the soon-to-break-ground San Francisco Market Place, along with many upcoming new developments.
This off-market deal was brokered by Mary Alam of NAI Northern California at a time when the mid-Market corridor has been garnering major media and investor attention. With Twitter’s move to its new headquarters at Market and 10th Street, other high-tech firms and startups followed suit. Investors and developers started focusing on developing housing and retail units to support the increased presence of this relatively affluent high tech population. The subject property can support many expanded uses that cater to this new demographic.
Alam was recently promoted to senior associate of NAI Northern California, where she has spent the past 18 months specializing in leased investments with a focus on retail, office and hotel properties, as well as redevelopment opportunities throughout the Bay Area and Northern California. In the past months alone, she made more than $20 million in offers on behalf of active buyers and managed approximately $10 million in transactions.
“Mary is highly skilled in providing value to her clients not only by way of her deal-making skills but also with her attention to detail,” says James Kilpatrick, manager of NAI Northern California. “She immediately rose to the top with this impressive sale and appointment to senior associate.”
Alam has worked in real estate and related fields for more than 10 years. Before becoming a real estate broker, she was a vice president at a San Francisco Commercial Bank with a focus on real estate finance. She later earned an MBA from San Francisco State University, where she was the recipient of the graduate school of business distinguished achievement award. Alam is also a member of the business honor society, Beta Gamma Sigma and is an alum of Columbia University in New York, where she earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics. She is also a member of CREW SF, the San Francisco Chapter of Women in Commercial Real Estate.
Alam has called the San Francisco Bay Area home since her teenage years and has lived in Marin County for the past 20 years. She is the proud parent of two children and takes part in various fundraising and board roles related to her kids’ academic and extracurricular activities.
